It is important to understand how the Home Star Energy program works and the mechanics of the same. The Silver Star program is known as a conservative rebate program. Here the homeowners would qualify for the rebates if they purchase boilers, windows and the like for home improvements. The homeowners would get a rebate up to 50 percent on these products. There is higher limit set up to which the homeowners can avail rebates under the Silver Star program. This limit is $3000.

The Gold Home Star Energy program is beautifully designed. This is the main concentration area and Home Star is now encouraging as many homeowners as possible to get a Gold Star rebate. The homeowners would get a rebate anywhere between $1000 and $8000 if they can show that there has been a reduction in the energy utilization. The contractors and home auditors will closely monitor such results and confirm the same to the Department of Energy.

Depending upon the accuracy of the results, the department will grant the rebates to the homeowners. The department of Home Energy is trying to accelerate the number in the total number of weatherization projects. There is news that the Government had already set aside $6billion towards financing the rebates. They are trying to drive energy efficiency through these rebates.
